Day 1 (Sunday) - Arrive and check into hotel. There will be no meals included today, as people will be arriving at different times. Your Tour Leader will meet those who have arrived, at 6pm in the reception of the Havana Hotel, and organise an evening meal in a local restaurant.

Day 2 (Monday) - The tour officially starts at 7am in the reception of the Havana Hotel. After breakfast your tour leader will gather the group together for an introductory briefing. With our local Egyptologist guide we will visit the Pyramids and Sphinx, where we also include a camel ride, and have a tour of the Egyptian History Museum, before catching the evening overnight train to Aswan (1st class seats). You may want to bring an eye-mask and travel pillow for this journey.  (Two meals included)

Day 3 (Tuesday) - In the morning we are transferred from the train station to our Aswan Hotel. After lunch and some free time, we include a trip to Philae Temple dedicated to the cult of Isis on an island in Lake Nasser (One meal included)

Day 4 (Wednesday) - Today in the morning we visit the incredible Sun Temple monuments at Abu Simbel in the desert south of Aswan. This is followed by a free afternoon to explore the vibrant Nubian city of Aswan and its attractive bazaars and cafes, as well as a number of tombs and monuments. (Two meals included)

Day 5 (Thursday) - Felucca. Please note that bedding is not provided on the feluccas so you should bring your own sleeping bag and a towel.  IF YOU ARE UNABLE TO SWIM YOU MUST INFORM YOUR TOUR LEADER BEFORE BOARDING THE FELUCCA. In the morning we transfer to our feluccas. Originally introduced by the Romans, these traditional sailing boats use only wind power, and occasionally oars. We have between 5 and 10 people per boat, with 2 crew. We will sleep on board over night as well as stop off at villages and sandy beaches. A canopy can be erected as protection from the sun during the day and wind or dew at night. (Three meals included)

Day 6 (Friday) - Felucca (Three meals included)
Day 7 (Saturday) - Our felucca trip finishes in the early morning to give you the opportunity to visit the Temples of Kom Ombo and of Horus at Edfu before transferring to Luxor, arriving around lunch time. After lunch we visit Luxor Temple with our Egyptologist Guide.  In the evening you have the option of visiting Karnak Temple for the Sound and Light show if you wish.

Day 8 (Sunday) - Luxor. Today we have a sturdy donkey each (from June to August it can be very hot and we may take an air conditioned mini bus instead of the donkeys), and with our guide we visit the Valley of Kings, Valley of Queens and Valley of Workers, where our guide will take us to a number of tombs as well as the Colossi of Memnon. (Two meals included)

Day 9 (Monday) - Luxor. This morning we take horse drawn carriages to the vast and impressive Karnak Temple complex for a guided tour. Following this there is free time to visit the local souq, relax by the hotel swimming pool, or visit Luxor Museum. Those on the 10-Day trip will be transferred to Luxor station in the evening to board the overnight train to Cairo.  Those on the 14-Day trip take a late afternoon convoy to Hurghada and spend the night there. (Two meals included)

    14 - Day Trip

Day 10 (Tuesday) - From Hurghada we take an early morning ferry across the Red Sea to the Sinai Peninsula. The crossing by hydrofoil ferry takes about 2 hours and we then transfer to Dahab, 1 hour away by minibus or taxi in time for lunch and a beer on the beach!  With year round sunshine, warm sea temperature and a laid back attitude it is no wonder Dahab has become so popular with travellers. The Bedouin Arabs who live here are culturally quite different to their Egyptian countrymen. Here almost ‘anything goes’ and our stay in Dahab can become quite hedonistic! Here also there are no big tourist hotels nearby and we stay in a small air-conditioned hotel with swimming pool5 minutes walk from the beach.  Dahab is also known as one of the worlds top diving locations, with spectacular coral gardens and marine life. You can snorkel to some of the coral within metres of the beach. (One meal included)

Please Note: Occasionally the Red Sea ferry may be out of service. If this is the case we go by coach from Luxor direct to Dahab. This takes about 18 hrs and is not a bus ride to be recommended!  So while the hydrofoil is an expensive crossing it cuts down our travelling time considerably, and it also adds to the variety of transport we provide.

Day 11, 12, 13 (Weds, Thurs, Fri) - Dahab, free days. You can hire snorkelling equipment or go scuba diving with one of the many dive centres. There is also a chance to climb Mt Sinai, although many people will just relax on the beach. ( No meals included )

Day 13 (Friday) - Dahab.  We have our final evening group meal, followed by a few beers before we get on the overnight bus at 10pm across the Sinai Desert to Cairo.  ( No meals included )

Day 14 (Saturday) – After arrival in Cairo from the bus from Dahab, a room will be available for use until midday.

Please Note:  When booking flights out of Cairo, do not book flights departing before 12 midday on Day 14 (Saturday).
Room extensions are available for the following rates:
             Until Midnight Day 14 (Sat)        – 5 £GB pp sharing / 7.50 £GB single
             Until Midday next day (Sun)       – 10 £GB pp sharing / 15 £GB single
             Any extra full nights                   – 10 £GB pp sharing / 15 £GB single

There is also the option to stay extra nights in Dahab at the end of your trip. We still arrange your transport back to Cairo and include your return airport transfer. Ask the Office or your Tour Leader for details.

Any extra nights’ accommodation in Cairo or Dahab can be arranged by your tour leader.
