Day 1 Livingstone (Zambia)

Our epic journey begins in Livingstone, on the banks of the mighty Zambezi River. Livingstone is the adrenaline capital of Africa and today we have the opportunity to take part in some of these exciting activities on offer. We end our day on a sunset cruise on the mighty Zambezi taking in the natural beauty that this area is famed for- a fabulous introduction to the splendour of this mighty river. Evening spent camping on the banks of the Zambezi. (D)

Day 2 - 4 South Luangwa Nat. Park or Kariba

Kindly note that this part of the trip varies according to seasonal changes:

Rainy Season- We depart from Livingstone and head for the western shores of Lake Kariba, our base for the next few evenings. Kariba is one of the largest man made Lakes in the world and offers a wide diversity of Flora, Fauna and varied bird life. Here we have the option of spending our time aboard a houseboat on Kariba or simply relaxing at our campsite taking part in the local activities on offer. (Breakfast only on day 2 if on optional activities and BLD if not taking part in optional activities)

Dry Season- We depart Livingstone and make our way north via the capital of Lusaka, before moving along the Great East Road to our overnight camp on the Banks of the Luangwa River. The following day, we head for the South Luangwa National Park and camp on the perimeter of the Park. We then have the opportunity to explore this magnificent Park on open vehicle day and night drives as well as game walks.(Breakfast only on day 2 if on optional activities and BLD if not taking part in optional activities)

Day 5 Lilongwe (Malawi)

Today we make our way into Malawi, the ‘Warm Heart of Africa’. We travel to the Capital City of Lilongwe where we overnight. BLD

Day 6- 9 Lake Malawi

We depart Lilongwe and head for the shores of Lake Malawi. The next four days will be spent exploring the western lakeshores taking part in the various water sport activities from the beachside campsites or simply enjoying the local Malawian culture. We travel further along the northern part of the Lake towards the Livingstonia Mountains, an area well known for great hikes and exploring the nearby craft markets. (BD)

Day 10 Iringa (Tanzania)

After a truly relaxing couple of days, we head for Karonga and into Tanzania. We ascend out of the Great Rift Valley through some spectacular mountain passes and travel along the highland Tea plantations en route to our camp at Iringa. (BLD)

Day 11 Mikumi en route to Dar es Salaam

Our journey takes us through the Mikumi National Park where we have the opportunity to spot a variety of wildlife along the way. We travel through an area known as Baobab Valley en route to the historical port city of Dar es Salaam. (BLD)

Day 12 -14 Zanzibar

We take a ferry from Dar es Salaam to the “Spice Island” of Zanzibar. Our days are spent exploring the Island, spending time relaxing on the sandy beaches, visiting the local villages and enjoying the mystique and history of this legendary Island. A spice tour, Stone Town with its Arabic influence and architecture and the Slave pits are all experiences not to be missed. (B on day 12 only)

Day 15 Pangani

Today we depart the “Spice Island” of Zanzibar and take a ferry returning to Dar es Salaam. We then head onto Pangani for an overnight stop. LD

Day 16 Arusha

From Pangani we travel inland on a scenic route that passes via the Pare and Usambara Mountain ranges. It is along this route that we might catch a glimpse of Mt. Kilimanjaro, the highest point in Africa (weather permitting). We visit the Meserani Snake Park and a Masai Museum. Arusha is the Safari Capital of Tanzania and it is here that we make preparations for a Safari Experience of a lifetime. Evening to be spent camping in Arusha. (BLD)

Day 17 - 19 Serengeti/Ngorongoro Crater

Our time is spent taking part in the various optional Safari activities that the world famous Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater has to offer. These Parks offer some of the best game viewing in Africa and will certainly be an experience of a lifetime. All excursions are conducted in vehicles specifically designed for Safaris and allow for the best photographic opportunities. It is more than just a game viewing experience as we also witness the traditional Masai herdsman, herding their livestock amongst the wild game. Truly, an adventure never to be forgotten! Clients not wanting to participate in the Safari activities have ample opportunity to take in the local culture and other activities in and around Arusha. (B on day 17 only)

Day 20 Arusha

We depart from the Serengeti and return to Arusha in the late afternoon. Evening to be spent reminising about our Safari experiences around the campfire. (D)

Day 21 Nairobi (Kenya)

After catching our final glimpse of Kilimanjaro we cross the border into Kenya and travel to Nairobi. We spend the last evening at a local restaurant bidding our fellow travellers farewell. (BL and Dinner at own cost)
